[뉴 올리언스] 300년된 프랑스풍 문화유산

미시시피강이 흐르는 뉴올리언스 카날 스트리트 에 위치한 뷰 카레(Vieux Carré 직사각형 모양으로 만들어진 프랑스풍 구 시가지) 1722년에 만들어진 영어로는 프랑스 구역(French Quarter) 이라고 하는 곳이다 미국의 도시 중 가장 독특한 곳이다 여기의 중심가는 부르봉(Bourbon) 스트리트다.

150년 이상된 버틀러-그린우드 대농장(Plantation)의 가구, 커튼, 카펫 및 거울 등이 그대로 보전, 그래서 2014년 뉴 올리언스 미술관에 인수(기증)되었다

[뉴올리언스 '뷰 카레(프랑스식 올드시티)'에 탄생한 호밀과 코냑과 달콤한 버몬트가 들어가는 풍성하면서도 유혹적이고 퇴페적인 뉴올리언스식 칵테일] Born in New Orleans, this stiff cocktail of rye and Cognac is a drink to sip and savor. Named using the French term for what's now known as the French Quarter, the Vieux Carré traces its origin to the bar back in the 1930s, and first appeared in print in 1937, in Famous New Orleans Drinks and How to Mix 'Em. With rye, Cognac, sweet vermouth, and plenty of bitters, it's as rich and decadent now as it was back then, and still remarkably evocative of the Big Easy. This weekend, raise a toast to New Orleans with one of the city's contributions to cocktail history.
